All breeds are welcome at the “Doggy Style Deli West,” a dining facility for the canine set, located in Edmonton, Alberta.

The restaurant serves dog favourites such as, “German Shepherd Pie, Cheesy Chihuahua Pizza, Massive Mastiff Munchy Muffins and Yummy Puggy Stew.” They also are offering the “first ever Kibble Buffet.” This is a dog’s heaven.

“Cheerfully designed with bright yellow walls and blue trim, Doggy Style has a handful of tables. Each table has a bench on either side. Big dogs sit on the benches. Smaller dogs can plant themselves right on the table,” say the Edmonton Journal.

Got a canine birthday in the future? Doggy Style Deli does doggy birthday parties complete with birthday cakes ‘iced’ in mashed potatoes and topped with a wiener candle!

Co-owners Geno Rodrigues and Lynn Clarke say, “pet owners are welcome to bring in a bagged lunch and eat with their pets,” however people food is not served in this eatery.

If you don’t feel like a full sit-down meal, there’s always the dog cafe for that afternoon perk-up:

Hello world!

Hello world!

Welcome to the Furkids blog!

This blog is our way at Furkids Inc. to communicate with the world, but more importantly it is our way to connect directly with other animal advocates so that we can unite, advocate, innovate and aid.  More specifically – unite for animals, advocate for animals, find innovative ways to help animals and successfully bring aid to animals in need with Furkids Inc. as our platform.

The mission of Furkids Inc. started out simple – make money to save lives.  Working with many animal rescue organizations around the world, I’d often find myself reaching out for emergency donations to help these groups through tough times and sudden misfortune.  Animal advocates are very giving and generous people, and we’d almost always raise enough money, however, there was an inherent waiting period with such an approach.  If a shelter in Eastern Europe had no money to feed 600 + dogs, and it took one week to raise and send funds to the shelter, I’d be left thinking “how do you explain to starving dogs that help is on the way”.  Whether raising money for a rescue struck with unexpected vet bills, natural disaster or some other sudden financial catastrophe, one thing remained the same – time was of the essence.  This realization was the very beginning of Furkids Inc. and the Furkids model.

Anyone in animal rescue knows that a rescue $ goes miles farther than any other $.  Meaning that an animal rescue organization will squeeze the life out of a one-dollar bill and nothing will go to waste.  It’s really the best return on any investment! :)   Recognizing this along with the fact that animal rescue organizations are limited only by the amount of money in their bank account, Furkids Inc. set out to generate money, through a business enterprise, that would be used for the sole benefit of helping animals.  Furkids funds would be used to aid animal rescues in financial emergencies and to assist them in expanding their work to reach more animals in need.

Raising money to help animals in need is amazing, but we can do so much more.  The mission of Furkids Inc. is now four-legged (no pun intended):

Animal Amity         Animal Advocacy          Animal Innovations          Animal Aid

These four pillars can each stand on their own, and are often independent of one another, however, in the Furkids model, all four create the foundation of Furkids Inc. and play a supporting role is bringing about the Furkids mission to bring aid to animals in need.

‘Animal Amity’ is the Furkids stated goal that animal and people live together in harmony.

‘Animal Advocacy’ is what Furkids sets out to do in order to achieve a more complete understanding and awareness of the afflictions facing animals and the ways in which we can bring them to an end.

‘Animal Innovations’ is the Furkids principle that we continually look for new and innovative ways to help animals in need.

‘Animal Aid’ is the way in which we create real change for animals in need and bring an end to suffering.

It is our hope at Furkids Inc. that together we can build a stronger network, have a louder voice and bring real change for animals in need.  We hope that you will join us, follow us, teach us, support us and let us support you so that together we can make a real change in this world.
